Sober life
The goal of the program is to help people understand how substance use has affected their entire lives, initiate a process of recovery and improve quality of life, supported by abstinence and support of the 12 step program.
More about the program
According to § 202 (7) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the prosecutor's office may end the criminal proceedings by assigning the suspect, with his consent, an obligation, which may include, among others, the obligation to complete the "Sober Life" program. Also, according to § 75 of the Penal Code, it is possible for the court to determine the obligation to complete the program both at the end of the proceedings and as an additional condition of the behavior control.
The backbone of the program is the Living in Balance program created by the Hazelden Foundation, which combines cognitive-behavioral therapy and 12 step guidelines.
Participation in the program includes an intensive action plan: group work, lectures, improvement of stress coping skills and activity in a comparison group, in addition to independent tasks and reading the literature about the 12 step program. The focus is on using the 12 step program in practice and mutual support.
